The Picture Business Finalist 2008
This was the second of our finalist for the 2008 competition. The basis for this design are the colours of the Irish flag for pop icon Bono. There is also a small hand carved shamrock.
Set Piece Award Finalist 2005
This years competition was to frame a reproduction of Art Business Today's first cover from 100 years ago. The cover was framed in a traditional style, this was then placed in another frame and surrounded by small prints of popular images from the century. Not one of my best.
Set Piece Award Finalist 1997
This was my first competition entry. The mount represents a port hole and the frame is made from chunky angle iron. Not a usual material for a frame but I wanted a steel ship building look and weight. Upholstery pins were used around the sides for rivets.
Creative Award Winner 1998
The challenge for this year was to frame any fabric. The subject here started as a silk style scarf with a fish and wave design. The two frames above are fitted together back to back.
Set Piece Entry 2010
To commemorate the centenary of the Fine Art Trade Guild this specially produced print had to be framed. I wanted to give a traditional decorative skill, line and wash, a modern twist. I was happy with the finished piece but it didn't make it to the finals.
