award winning framers
Motor racing is a loud, dynamic, vibrant sport which fits well with our creative style of framing. It is also of personal interest as I worked in the sport, from national sports cars to the Le Mans 24 Hours and World Sports Car Championship.
All sorts of items can be incorporated into a design. We usually start with the car's colours or those of a particular sponsor. Additional features to include are car numbers and badges, circuit outlines and sponsors logos or products.
Bob Crozier at Cadwell Park. The triple mount includes the colours of the car, blue and orange, in the left corner is a raised map of the circuit and on the right the car badge. In the centre is a raised text box with the added feature of a repeat of the car's colours in a hairline at the middle of the bevel.
A mount with the Mercedes star cut into the mount, 'Mercedes-Benz' is also debossed along the bottom of the mount in large letters but it doesn't really show in the photo.
Porsche is carved into a black core mount in the same style as can be seen on the bottom sill of the car.
A set of 9 photographs with a hand carved prancing horse, as seen on the Ferrari Badge, on the right hand side.
These designs were part of a series of original paintings, to be sold in America, for professional artist Simon Ward.
The 'Du Pont' colour scheme was taken from the car which was being used to promote their paint range.
For the flag mount a vinyl transfer was applied to a white mountboard before cutting the window.
The Rusty Wallace car was sponsored by Miller Genuine Draft, so we used the same black and gold livery. The Miller logo, brand and design element were all included in the mount.
Martini racing stripes cut into mount board, with a gloss white frame all echoing the car in the photo.
The 'Union Jack' mount was doubly appropriate as the picture is of Nigel Mansell at the British Grand Prix. We have also used it on a London Marathon piece and several military framing jobs.
Ayrton Senna at Monaco in the Marlboro McLaren.
Tyre smoke and opposite lock. Another multi-aperture photographic mount.
This is an award winning design celebrating the teams 1957 win. More details can be found in the competition section.
